Have you ever had naan? It's an Indian bread that is eaten with most meals. It is the equivalent to dinner rolls or tortillas. Now you can make naan! Just follow this simple recipe and you will be enjoying it in no time.

  • ½ teaspoon active yeast or 1 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups white flour or you can use a mix of white and whole wheat flour.
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoon any kind of tasteless vegetable oil.
  • 1 tablespoon mixed seeds like nigella, sesame and fennel .

1. In a small glass dish, set the sugar, water and yeast to prove. This will take ten minutes to happen.

2. In another bowl, sift the flour and salt together and mix well.

3. Add the banking powder to the flour and mix well again

4. When the yeast rises, add the yoghurt and the olive oil to the yeast mixture and gently stir together. Try not to deflate the puffy mixture too much.

5. Pour this into the dry mixture and gently bring the flour together to make dough. It will be slightly sticky.

6. Cover the dough and set aside to rise for about 2 hours.

7. Roll out the dough when ready into a large flat disc and then shape it. it has to be about 9 inches long and about 4 inches wide and about one cm thick.

8. You can shape the entire dough and then transfer the naan to a baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes until brown on top. You can also fry the naan on a griddle till done.
