  • 1 C. white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • Sugar to coat cookies

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Add the egg and beat well. In another bowl mix together the dry ingredients. Add slowly the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until combined and a dough is formed. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Coat balls in sugar and put on the baking sheet. Bake for 5 to 6 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet for about 3 to 4 minutes and then place on baking rack.
