Ingredients

  • 1/2 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. cold water
  • 1 C. crushed ice
  • 2 lemons

Directions

Cut the lemons in quarters and juice them into a 16 oz. glass, adding the squeezed fruit as well. Add the sugar, ice and water. Cover and shake OR pour drink back and forth from one 16 oz. cup to another ('shake up'). Make sure all the sugar has dissolved. This drink goes great with any carnival menu item, from burgers and brats to grilled veggies and corn dogs.

  • Just a comment: vendors at the Iowa State Fair use powdered/confectioner's sugar when making Lemonade Shakeups. The powdered sugar dissolves better and faster.
