I think I call this one Marinara Unlimited because of the flavors that get boosted out of the mix.

  • 1 Tbs. olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 C. red wine
  • 1/2 Tbs. balsamic vinegar
  • 1 14-oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 14-oz. can diced tomatoes
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 4 Tbs. basil, chopped
  • 2 Tbs. parsley, minced

Heat olive oil in a large skillet. Add the onion and saute over medium heat until it softens. Add the garlic and cook for another minute, or until fragrant. 

Turn the heat up to high and add the wine and balsamic vinegar, making sure to scrape up all the brown bits at the bottom of the pan. 

Lower heat to medium-high and add the tomatoes, basil, parsley, salt, and pepper. Cover and allow to simmer for 30 minutes.
