The only thing better than pizza is pizza folded in with extra toppings, aka calzones. Simple, easy, tasty, cheesy and overstuffed with sausage crumbles, spinach and pizza sauce – make these portable pizzas ahead of time for quick meals throughout the week!

  • 1 sheet of crescent pastry dough (8 oz. package)
  • ½ cup of cooked Italian sausage crumbles
  • ½ cup of chopped spinach
  • ¼ cup of pizza sauce
  • 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • salt and pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a bowl, combine sausage crumbles, spinach, pizza sauce, cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and a little bit of salt and pepper.
Cut pastry sheet into 4 even rectangles (about 8”x4”) and scoop filling onto half of a rectangle with a ½ inch border. Fold the other half of each rectangle over the filling and seal the edges all around using a fork.
Line your pan with parchment paper and evenly arrange each stuffed pastry on the pan. Beat the egg and tablespoon of water together and brush over the tops of the pastry sheets with this mixture. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
Serve immediately with extra pizza sauce on the side!
