  • 1 1/2 C. all purpose flour
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 1/4 C. cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 C. cold water
  • 1/3 C. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a 8-inch round baking pan. Mix well. Pour water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla over flour mixture. Stir carefully to combine well and smooth out batter. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. Cool and frost cake with your favorite homemade chocolate frosting.
