  • 1 ¼ pounds ground beef
  • ½ cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 ½ tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon thyme
  • Pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 2 cloves garlic

Heat the olive oil in a pan on medium-high heat before adding the bell pepper, onion, and celery. Cook the vegetables for 5 minutes and stir occasionally. Mince the garlic cloves and add it to the pan, cooking for 30 seconds. Remove the pan from heat and transfer the vegetables to a bowl and set aside. Crumble half the ground beef into the pan and sprinkle with salt. When the meat is browned on one side, flip the pieces over. Remove the beef from the pan and add the second half of the beef repeating the process of browning. When all the beef is cooked, combine all the meat and vegetables to the pan and add the ketchup, tomato sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and mix well. Then, add the thyme. Lower the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.
