Black bean patties are not only healthier but a vegan alternative to beef burgers. These are amped up with a little bit of chili spice, onion, and broccoli.

  • 1 can of black beans, drained
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small red onion, diced
  • 1 cup of broccoli florets, diced
  • ½ cup of seasoned croutons, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cilantro
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

As the oven preheats to 375 degrees, mash the black beans until it is a thick paste. Then, stir in the egg, onion, broccoli, crushed croutons, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, paprika, cilantro, salt, and pepper until well combined and moldable. Shape the bean mixture into four thick patties. Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Serve on whole wheat buns with the condiments of your choice and a side of fries!
