These sauce smothered meatballs can be served traditionally with spaghetti, but also on top of a bed of vegetables or even rice. The marinara sauce is savory and herbal which will compliment anything you choose to pair these meatballs with.

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup of onion, chopped
  • ½ cup of Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup of mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup of Italian-style croutons, crushed
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups of marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon of dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon of dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

As the oven preheats to 400 degrees, mix together the egg, onion, parmesan, mozzarella, croutons, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined. Then, shape into 2 to 3-inch size balls and place into a round skillet or baking pan. As the meatballs bake for 20 minutes, mix together the marinara sauce, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, basil, oregano, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Then top the meatballs with the marinara sauce and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
